Here is how the businesses can opt-out of "Order Online"
Beginning of 2019, Google started to
showcase the option of "Order Online" for the restaurants in India & the United States.
Earlier this year, in order to make the
search experience simpler for the users, Google introduced the option of “Order
Online” button on the knowledge panel on the SERP for the restaurants in India
and the US market. This button lets the user order food from that particular
restaurant through the integrated food ordering and delivery partners of
Google.
An additional Call-to-Action button on the
SERP was also noticed highlighting this new feature and trying to draw the
attention of the searcher to view the menu and order food online.
Since the inception of this new feature,
the restaurants had no option but to show the “Order Online” button on the
knowledge panel on Google SERP. However, Google has now introduced an option
where the restaurants, who are not interested in showing this “Order Online”
button on their knowledge panel can actually opt-out of it by filling this
“opt-out form”.
This would definitely be helpful to the
restaurant’s owners who were forced to show this button by Google. However,
filing the “opt-out form” will only help the restaurant’s owners to remove the
“Order Online” button from the knowledge panel but Google will continue to
showcase the 3rd party features like the ads and order links.
