Google says this will help to improve the performance of the responsive ad units

Earlier this week, Google declared that they have updated the Responsive ad unit in ADSense through which advertisers can now limit the ad unit size.

According to Google, this update was aiming at allowing advertisers to limit the ad unit size so that the performance of the desktop can improve.

AdSense publishers are now allowed to control the ad sizes on the responsive ad unit. Before this update came into the picture, the publishers had zero control over the ad banner which is displayed on the responsive ad unit.

As per Google, as a result of this update the responsive ad unit will be able to resize the HTML parent container that is there within the unit.

According the recommendation of Google, Responsive ad unit should not be placed inside the container with any pre-fixed size.

All the publishers who would want to limit the ad unit specifications of the responsive ad unit need to modify the responsive ad unit code. Here are the available modifications in more detail.
